Restore Health and Beauty to Your Smile
Dental implants are a permanent solution for tooth loss. They’re natural-looking, highly durable, easy to clean, and never removed. They’re also the only solution that protects your health in addition to enhancing your smile.
Explore our guide to learn everything you want to know about dental implants.
What Are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a small titanium post that’s placed directly in your jaw. It’s topped with a small connecting screw called an abutment and completed with your choice of restoration, most often a stunning porcelain crown.
The implant post fuses with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration, allowing your implant to look and function like a natural tooth. Unlike removable options such as dentures, you’ll never need to worry about your implant sliding out of place when you eat or speak.
Our Implant Process
The dental implant process consists of multiple steps taking place over the course of a few months. The first step is your initial consultation with Dr. Cooper, during which he’ll evaluate your oral health and explain the procedure in detail. Once he determines you’re ready, he’ll place the implant in your jaw and protect the surgical area to begin the healing process.
After surgery, you’ll need to wait four to six months before returning to our office for your final restoration. This allows time for your implant to fully heal and integrate with your jawbone. After Dr. Cooper attaches your replacement tooth, you can enjoy all the benefits of a healthy and beautiful smile.
Candidacy for Dental Implants
During your initial consultation with Dr. Cooper, he’ll evaluate the state of your jaw and gums to determine if you’re a candidate for implants. If you’ve lived without teeth for a while, or if you previously wore dentures, then it’s likely you suffer from jawbone deterioration and/or gum recession.
These conditions are both obstacles to receiving dental implants, but thankfully, Dr. Cooper can help you overcome them with one or more supplemental procedures. The most common treatments we offer are bone grafting and soft tissue augmentation.
Our Implant Solutions
We feature a variety of implant solutions to replace any number of missing teeth. For single tooth replacement, we top your implant with a natural-looking porcelain crown. Our crowns are customized to match your surrounding teeth and can last 10 to 15 years with proper care.
If you’re missing multiple adjacent teeth, we recommend a fixed bridge. Securing your bridge with dental implants eliminates the need to rely on your surrounding teeth for support, making it a much more effective option. If you have gaps throughout your smile, we can customize a partial denture to restore your appearance.
For patients missing an entire arch of teeth, we can place a complete denture and anchor it with multiple dental implants. Implant-supported dentures offer several advantages over traditional dentures, including stability, durability, and stimulation for your jaw to promote healthy bone growth.
